Vinyl Siding

Durable, low-maintenance vinyl siding – available in insulated options for added thermal performance.

Wichita's Vinyl Siding Installation Experts

Vinyl siding remains one of the most popular exterior cladding choices for Wichita homeowners – and for good reason. It is affordable, virtually maintenance-free, and available in dozens of colors and profiles. At Wichita Roofing Pros, we install only premium-grade vinyl siding (thicker panels, deeper interlocking, and UV-stabilized pigments) that resists warping, fading, and impact damage far better than builder-grade products.

We offer both standard hollow-back vinyl and foam-backed insulated vinyl. Insulated vinyl adds R-2.5 to R-4 of thermal resistance to your wall assembly, reduces outside noise transmission, and gives the siding a solid, dent-resistant feel. All our vinyl siding carries a lifetime limited warranty against fading, cracking, and peeling – and we provide a 10-year labor warranty on every installation.

Our vinyl siding process begins with a complete assessment of your existing cladding and substrate. We never install over old siding. Everything is stripped, housewrap or insulation is applied, and new vinyl is installed with hidden fasteners and proper J-channel around windows and doors. The result is a clean, uniform appearance that will look great for decades with nothing more than an occasional wash with a garden hose.

What Every Vinyl Siding Installation Includes

Full Tear-Off of Existing Siding

All old siding, trim, and fasteners are removed down to the sheathing – no layovers, no hidden rot left behind.

Substrate & Housewrap Inspection

Sheathing is inspected for moisture damage or rot. Repairs made as needed. New housewrap or foam insulation board installed over entire wall.

J-Channel & Trim Installation

All windows, doors, corners, and soffits receive properly sized J-channel or corner posts – no caulking directly to siding panels.

Hidden Fastening System

Vinyl panels are hung on starter strips and nailed through integral slots – nails are not driven tight, allowing the panels to expand and contract with temperature changes.

Residential Roofing FAQ

How long does vinyl siding last in Wichita's weather?
Premium-grade vinyl siding (0.044″–0.050″ thickness) typically lasts 30–50 years in the Kansas climate. Fading is minimal with UV-stabilized pigments – most manufacturers offer lifetime fade warranties. Warping is not an issue with proper installation (leaving room for expansion) and insulated backing. Builder-grade thin vinyl (0.040″ or less) may warp and fade within 10–15 years – we do not install those products.
Yes for most homeowners. Insulated vinyl adds approximately $1.50–$2.50 per square foot compared to hollow-back, but it provides R-value (energy savings), noise reduction (30–40% less outside noise), and impact resistance (the foam backing prevents dents from hail or baseballs). Many homeowners recoup the extra cost in energy savings within 5–7 years, and the solid feel is noticeably better.
Color matching on vinyl is challenging because older siding fades over time. Even the same manufacturer and color code will show a difference between new and 10-year-old panels. We recommend full elevation replacement for the best appearance. For small repairs, we can order the original color and install on less visible walls (e.g., rear of house) or we can replace entire accent sections.
Proper installation is key. We leave a 1/4″ gap at all ends and around windows/doors so panels can expand without buckling. We also avoid nailing tightly – the nail head should be 1/16″ off the nailing slot. Dark colors absorb more heat; for south- and west-facing walls, we recommend lighter colors or insulated vinyl which is more thermally stable.
New vinyl siding typically recoups 70–80% of its cost at resale, according to remodeling reports. Buyers appreciate the low maintenance and uniform appearance. Premium upgrades like insulated vinyl or distinctive profiles (Dutch lap, board & batten) can add additional appeal. Unlike wood or fiber cement, vinyl requires no painting or staining – a selling point for busy homeowners.
